NFL Draft

Several big name players from the FCS were drafted this past weekend. Taiwan Jones, running back from Eastern Washington, was perhaps the biggest name going into the draft. He went early in the fourth round to the Oakland Raiders. However, he was not the first player taken this year. That would be Villanova offensive lineman, Ijalana, who went to the Giants 49th overall (round 2). 21 players were taken overall, an increase of 2 from last year. The most since 2008.

The conference that had the most was the Southern Conference. They had 5 taken. Big Sky had 4, Mid-Eastern had 3, 2 a piece for CAA, Missouri Valley, and Southland. The Ivy had a surprise draft pick to the Chiefs (Shane Banon) in Round 7 to join the Patriot League and Southerwestern to have 1 draftee.

Appy State had 3 players drafted at the end of the 5th and the 6th round. Citadel had their stand out cornerback, Cortez Allen, went to the Pittsburg Steelers.

A little surprisingly Pat Devlin from Delaware went undrafted. I thought for sure someone in the late rounds would take him considering the success that other Delaware QB's have had.

The 49ers took 3 players total and the Miami Dolphins took 2.
